By providing engaging and hands-on learning experiences, we strive to empower youth to become creative problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Our institution aims to cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment that nurtures talent, fosters collaboration, and encourages diverse perspectives. Through our commitment to excellence, mentorship, and access to cutting-edge resources, we envision a generation of empowered young leaders who are equipped to tackle complex challenges, drive technological advancements, and shape the future of our world through STEM innovation.
We promote a culture of lifelong learning, instilling in our students the value of continuous education and personal growth. We support and encourage ongoing exploration, skill development, and intellectual curiosity beyond our programmes, empowering our students to become lifelong learners in STEM and beyond.
We promote collaboration and teamwork as essential elements of STEM learning. We encourage young individuals to work together, share ideas, and learn from each other's strengths. We believe that collaboration fosters creativity, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of complex concepts.
YSTEM is a uniquely positioned establishment with strong community-based focuses and functions. Born out of the collective efforts of members of disadvantaged areas from the inner-city of Johannesburg, our experiences offer an on-the- ground perspective with the intellectual posturing of young, motivated individuals.
Our values are centered around the idea that the only constant is innovation. The ability to achieve more with what is at our disposal is essentially what drives us.
We have dedicated ourselves to developing a team that comprises of social-activists, future-orientated, and real-time conscious members that understand the immediacy of the challenges our target group faces today.
Not only do we recognize the nuanced need of science and technology amongst young South African society, but we also acknowledge the social and economic gaps that hinder the ease of access and honing towards grasping strong foundations in these scarce skills.
